I am a registered dietitian nutritionist with a Masters in Human Nutrition and background in psychology. My passion lies in helping others not only to discover joy and peace with food but also to develop a foundation of self-care that promotes a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. I take a holistic and integrative approach in achieving health and wellness. I've learned from my own personal journey that in order to achieve maximum well being and be your absolute best, seeking and finding a balance between mind, body, and spirit is key.
Naturally, when providing nutrition counseling, I consider the “whole” person and recognizes the unique needs of each. Wherever you may be in your relationship with food and journey in life, I am eager to meet you right where you are acting as your counselor, cheerleader, and strategist.
My philosophies in regards to nutrition are simple:
"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" ~Hippocrates
- Focus on eating “whole” foods. While no food is “off-limits,” the overall diet should consist of unrefined, unprocessed, real foods.
- Enjoy food without counting calories and dieting. What the scale tells you is not an indicator of your health or your self-worth. Rather, put your focus and energy in the power of mindful/intuitive eating, a skill we are all naturally born with.
As someone who struggled with the vicious cycle of starving/binging for many years, I understand the feelings of guilt and restrictions surrounding food. Once I started listening to and respecting my body and letting go of my all-or-nothing mentality and perfectionism regarding food, I not only began to enjoy food but also gained control of my health. It is a powerful tool that will help you restore your metabolism, achieve hormonal balance, aid in digestion, and so much more.
So are you ready to ditch the latest diet craze, the never-ending feelings of deprivation and frustration? Instead, do you want to learn to nourish and respect your body?
If so, I am ready to provide you with a realistic AND individualized approach as well as tools to eating and living well. Respect and honor your body, and it WILL love you back.
Private nutrition coaching is available through phone, Skype, Google+, Facetime, or in person if you live in the Austin/Round Rock area.
Here’s what you can expect:
Initial session:
- This is the time when you get to do all the talking and I listen. I want to hear all about your eating and exercise habits, food likes/dislikes, relationships to food, past experiences with diets, medical history, and any challenges you’ve come across. Taking everything into consideration, I will come up with an individualized plan and help you set goals and prioritize. Together we will set short-term as well as long-term goals.
Follow-up sessions:
The focus here is to increase knowledge about food and help foster a positive relationship with food. To me, no food is off limits! You can have that piece of cake or cookie without feeling as though you’ve failed. Learn to balance your favorite foods and treats with those that will nourish and give you the long lasting energy you need to get you through the day. Become an intuitive eater rather than an emotional one. From my blog, you can see that I’m passionate about cooking with wholesome real foods. Are you pressed for time or money and don’t think you can eat healthy? Think again. I will assist in meal planning and design a personalized menu with recipes.
