These cottage cheese protein wraps are soft, chewy, and flexible, with 9 grams of protein per wrap! Made with just 2 simple ingredients, they come together in 25 minutes, no eggs, blender, or oven required. Use them for sandwiches, breakfast wraps, mini pizzas, or easy lunchbox roll-ups!

Why You’ll Love These Cottage Cheese Wraps
If you’ve tried the viral cottage cheese wraps made with eggs, you know they can taste more like an omelet than an actual tortilla.
That’s exactly why I love this version! By combining cottage cheese with self-rising flour, you get a soft, satisfying wrap that you can actually fold, roll, and fill with all your favorite ingredients.
And as a busy mom, I especially love that I can make a batch ahead of time for quick breakfasts and lunches throughout the week.
- Only 2 ingredients. You probably already have everything you need in your kitchen.
- No eggs needed. Unlike many viral cottage cheese wraps, these have a chewy, bread-like texture rather than an eggy one.
- No blender required. Just mix everything in a bowl, roll out the dough, and cook in a skillet.
- Easy to customize. Keep them plain or add your favorite seasonings.
- Perfect for the whole family. Fill them with eggs, chicken, hummus, vegetables, or whatever you have on hand.
- Freezer-friendly. Make a double batch and have homemade wraps ready whenever you need them.

Key Ingredients

I am highlighting just the ones that need further explanation. The complete list is in the recipe card below.
- Cottage cheese – I recommend full-fat cottage cheese for the best texture. I personally love Good Culture and Daisy.
- Self-rising flour – My personal favorite is King Arthur. Because you’ll have extras, you HAVE to make these 3 ingredient pancakes with self rising flour, banana bread with self-rising flour, cheese rolls, and protein pizza!
- Butter (for the pan) – A little goes a long way to get those golden brown spots and just a hint of buttery flavor.
- Seasonings (optional but fun!) – Garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, or everything bagel seasoning can totally change the vibe of your wraps.
- Warm water – Not always necessary, but good to have on hand if your dough feels dry or crumbly.
What is the best cottage cheese to use for wraps?
I recommend using full-fat cottage cheese, and here’s why:
- It’s less watery than low-fat versions, which means your dough will be easier to mix and roll out.
- The higher fat content adds richness, making the wraps soft, tender, and flavorful.
- It helps the dough hold together better without needing a blender or kneading.
If you only have low-fat cottage cheese, you can still make it work. Just know you may need to add a little more flour to balance the moisture.
How to Make Cottage Cheese Protein Wraps

Step 1: In a medium bowl, combine cottage cheese, self-rising flour, and salt (if using). Stir with a spoon until everything comes together into a rough dough.

Step 2: Lightly flour your hands and shape the dough into one big ball. Then cut it into 4 equal pieces.

Step 3: On a lightly floured surface, use a rolling pin to roll each piece into a thin circle. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a small pat of butter. Once melted, place a rolled-out wrap in the pan.

Step 4: Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown spots appear and the wrap is cooked through. Add more butter as needed between wraps.
My Best Tips for Soft, Flexible Wraps
The dough is pretty forgiving, but the moisture content of cottage cheese can vary quite a bit. Pay attention to how the dough feels rather than worrying about getting it perfect immediately.
- If it’s sticky: Sprinkle on a little more flour as you roll.
- If it’s dry or crumbly: Add warm water about 1 teaspoon at a time until the dough comes together.
- Don’t overwork it: Mix and handle the dough just enough to bring everything together. The more you play with it, the stickier it can become.
- Roll it thin: This helps give you a flexible wrap rather than a thick flatbread.
- For mini pizzas: Cook the wrap a minute or two longer on each side if you want a slightly crispier base.
Variations
Want to switch things up or tailor the wraps to your taste? Here are a few easy ways to customize the recipe:
- Herb & Garlic Wraps – Add garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt to the dough before mixing.
- Cheesy Wraps – Fold in 2–3 tablespoons of shredded mozzarella or parmesan for extra flavor and richness.
- Spicy Kick – A pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce mixed into the dough gives a fun twist for wraps or pizza bases.
- Sweet Version – Skip the savory spices and add a tiny splash of vanilla extract or cinnamon. Great for nut butter + banana roll-ups!
Easy High Protein Wrap Fillings

This is where these wraps really come in handy. Think of them just like tortillas and use whatever fillings your family already enjoys.
A few of our favorites:
- Turkey + avocado: Turkey, mashed avocado, cheese, and spinach
- Chicken + veggies: Shredded chicken, cucumber, carrots, and hummus
- Hummus + cheese: Hummus (try my beet hummus or carrot hummus), shredded cheese, and thinly sliced veggies
- Pinwheel Roll-ups: Check out ALL the ideas from my ultimate pinwheel sandwiches list!
- Breakfast wrap: Scrambled eggs, avocado, sausage, or cheese
- PB + banana: Nut or seed butter with sliced banana
- Pizza: Marinara, mozzarella, and your favorite pizza toppings
For younger kids, you can also serve the ingredients deconstructed. Cut the wrap into strips or triangles and serve it alongside the fillings rather than rolling everything together.
How to Store Cottage Cheese Wraps
Refrigerator
Allow the wraps to cool completely, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Freezer
Place cooled wraps in a freezer-safe bag or container and freeze for up to 2 months. If stacking them, you can place parchment paper between each wrap so they’re easy to separate.
Reheating
Microwave for about 30–40 seconds until warm and flexible again.
You can also warm them briefly in a skillet. Avoid heating them too long or they may become firmer and less flexible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! You can use all purpose flour, white whole wheat flour, or oat flour and add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder.
Nope! That’s one of my favorite things about this recipe. There’s no blender or food processor needed, just a bowl and spoon.
You will still see tiny cottage cheese curds in the dough, but they soften as the wraps cook.
Yes. Full-fat cottage cheese is my preference because I find it creates a soft, tender dough that’s easy to work with, but low-fat can work too.
Because different cottage cheeses contain different amounts of moisture, you may need to add a little more flour if your dough is very sticky.
Not really! Cottage cheese adds moisture, protein, and tenderness, but once it’s mixed with the flour and cooked, the flavor is quite mild. This makes the wraps easy to pair with both savory and sweeter fillings.
Absolutely. They’re soft, easy to hold, and incredibly versatile.
For toddlers and younger kids, try cutting the wrap into strips, making small roll-ups, or serving it deconstructed alongside familiar foods. You can adjust the fillings based on your child’s eating skills and preferences.
Yes! That’s one of my favorite uses for them. Make a batch ahead, refrigerate, and fill as needed.
To help prevent sogginess, avoid very wet fillings or use a thicker spread such as hummus, cream cheese, or mashed avocado as a barrier between the wrap and juicy ingredients.

I love all your recipes I tried so far, so when I saw this one I knew I had to give it a try as a healthy meal option during my pregnancy. And what can I say, it’s even tastier than I imagined! As I was in a hurry, I skipped flattening the dough with the rolling pin and just brought the dough to shape by pressing it down with a spatula in the frying pan. Fortunately that worked out just fine! I topped it with a slice of cheese and ate it while it was still hot- so delicious! I will definitely prepare another batch for my husband and child and hope they will love it as much as they love your blueberry banana cake recipe. Thank you for your amazing work!
AMAZING! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the recipes and that they’re helping you stay nourished during your pregnancy! ❤️
Can the cottage cheese be blended then added to flour?
You can!
My kids are obsessed – so easy, healthy, and delicious !
