Why You’ll Love These Mango Popsicles

  • Naturally sweet – Ripe mangoes add plenty of natural sweetness, so there’s no need for lots of added sugar.
  • Creamy, not icy – Coconut cream gives these popsicles a velvety smooth texture that stays creamy straight from the freezer.
  • Perfect for babies and toddlers – Made with simple ingredients and are easy for little hands to hold and enjoy.
  • Easy to make – Just blend, pour, and freeze. The blender does almost all the work.
  • Easy to customize – Add yogurt, berries, lime juice, or even spinach to switch up the flavor and nutrition.

“These are the best homemade popsicles I’ve ever had in my life. I think I may even like them more than my kids do! Haha!” – Rachel

My kids are mango fanatics, so I always keep a big bag of frozen mangoes from Costco in the freezer. Even with all the ways I use them—mango yogurt, kale mango smoothies, coconut mango pudding, mango shake, mango quinoa salad—these creamy mango popsicles are always one of my go-tos.

If you’re in the mood for something a little different, give this mango sorbet a try too—or mix things up with these strawberry popsicles or a chilled coconut mango pudding for dessert.

Key Ingredients

  • Ripe mangoes – you can use fresh or frozen. If using fresh, here’s how to select as well as serve mangoes to babies and kids. The sweeter the mango, the better your popsicles will taste.
  • Coconut cream – You will need canned full-fat coconut cream. It will make the popsicles thick, creamy, and delicious! You can use coconut milk if you can’t find the cream, but they won’t have the same texture. You can also use plain or Greek yogurt, but then they won’t have the same flavor.

Variations

Here are some fun add-ins to give these easy mango popsicles an extra oomph!

  • Mango Yogurt Popsicles – Replace some or all of the coconut cream with full-fat Greek yogurt for a creamy mango yogurt popsicle variation.
  • Strawberry Mango Popsicles – Add strawberries or swirl in a berry puree like strawberry, blueberry, or raspberry before freezing for a fun marbled effect.
  • Mango Banana Popsicles – Blend in banana for extra creaminess and natural sweetness.
  • Tropical Mango Popsicles – Add pineapple, peach, or other fruits for even more tropical flavor. You can mix and match fruits however you like, just keep the total amount of fruit to about 3 cups.
  • Coconut Lime Mango Popsicles – Add freshly squeezed lime or lemon juice for a bright citrusy flavor, and stir in unsweetened coconut flakes for extra texture and fiber.
  • Green Mango Popsicles – Blend in a handful of spinach for an easy veggie boost while keeping the sweet mango flavor.
  • Spicy Mango Pops – Add a pinch of chili powder or Tajín for a sweet-and-spicy flavor twist that older kids and adults may enjoy.

Recipe Tips

  • Use full-fat coconut cream – The fat helps keep the popsicles smooth and creamy instead of hard and icy.
  • Don’t overblend – Overblending can warm the mixture, which may lead to icier popsicles once frozen.
  • Taste after blending – Depending on the sweetness of the mangos, you may need to add a touch of honey or maple syrup. Keep in mind that frozen treats taste less sweet once frozen.
  • Popsicle yield may vary – The number of popsicles you will get from this recipe depends on your popsicle mold.
  • Run molds under warm water – Also depending on your mold, you may need to run it under warm water to help get the popsicles out.

Mango Popsicles FAQs

How do I store these mango popsicles?

These healthy popsicles will keep in the freezer for a month. While you can store for longer, the texture won’t be the same.

To save room in your freezer, remove from the molds once frozen solid and transfer to a freezer-safe bag.

How can I make mango popsicles without molds?

You can pour popsicle mixture into paper or plastic cups. Insert popsicle sticks into the center of each cup and freeze until solid.

Can I use other fruits?

The top fruits that I recommend substituting with are peaches, papaya, and pineapple. Remember to adjust the sweetness level and any additional ingredients based on the natural sweetness of the fruit you choose. You can also combine these fruits with others to create a unique, delicious flavor combinations.

What if I don’t have coconut cream?

If you can’t find coconut cream, use the solid portion from a can of full-fat coconut milk (just chill it overnight). You can also substitute plain or Greek yogurt for a tangier flavor, though it will change the taste and make it less tropical.

Are these safe for babies and toddlers?

Yes! These popsicles are made from whole fruit and coconut cream with no added sugar, making them a great option for babies 6 months+ and toddlers. Just use a small mold appropriate for baby-sized hands and be sure to supervise while eating.

These are delicious. I did half full fat yogurt and half coconut cream and it turned out great. We usually freeze store bought yogurt tubes, but all the stores near me have been out of stock so I decided to try this and don’t think I’ll go back to tubes! So easy and so much better for kiddo without the added sugar. He loves frozen mangoes too so this is a real hit. Thanks so much.
